The 50th Life Lesson I Learned about Creativity
This may be the most important lesson in this series, aside from the very first one!
This is the final post of 50 Life Lessons I Learned About Creativity. I can say I have thoroughly enjoyed this mini journey of exploring 50 different ways that someone can navigate a creative process.
When I started planning for this project 4 months ago… I gathered all the transcripts from all my youtube videos on CreationTVstation, as well as the transcripts from my podcast: From Process to Progress — conversations on the creative process.
I thought I needed to go through line by line, everything I learned from each of those creative inquiries… It took me a good month to gather all the notes.
I created outlines and summaries…
generating over 200 pages of data…
all the information was there and available for me to dig into.
However when I actually began writing for this project’s blog…
I didn’t use any of it.
I just created it all from scratch, in the moment.
😮
So did it actually matter that I went through all of that work? …to end up not using it as I originally planned?
YES!
I would say it still carried an influence and left an impression in the back of my mind anyway! If anything… the notes served as a reminder to me for why I must always…
enjoy creating!
It’s ok to gather tons of notes & information — it matters more in how you apply your newfound knowledge into your next experience.
HOT TIP: ✨
Every moment is an opportunity for you to create something.
I am not saying you are missing out if you are not creating in every moment.
What i am saying …
is that you can choose any moment in time …
to allow yourself to create,
because you can!
You can create! …at any time you want!
It’s even better when you enjoy your time spent creating!
My biggest hurdle in defining my unique creative process was understanding what it even looked like.
Learning how to identify or recognize my moment to create was my biggest lesson learned in this exploration!
Now that I understand how to recognize all the ways we can be creative, I can feel more confident and free to create as often as I can!
Writing out these 50 Life Lessons I Learned About Creativity was important to me, so that I could help others save the time and ease any challenges they may encounter in their own exploration of creativity.
I truly hope all of this helps!
one final note…
A few days after completing the Nights & Weekends S5 IRL event… Our fearless leader of Buildspace,
, declared he was closing Buildspace. When I saw the email, and read his letter, I cried. Not tears of sadness… but tears of completion.
If you’ve ever completed a large project, you will know what I am talking about.
If you know a word (even in other languages) that describes this feeling of bittersweet-relief-of-triumph-of-completion-like-after-running-a-marathon…. please leave a comment !
I felt completely aligned with Farza’s choice to close down Buildspace.
I also wondered…
“dang… if he feels complete with the growth of Buildspace… what will he create next?!”
Buildspace was born from the evolution of his Zipschool project.
…and Zipschool’s evolution was amazing!
I felt a warm rush of excitement and pride to have witnessed the growth of, and to also have participated in Buildspace’s programs — including Nights & Weekends for three seasons. I don’t know what is next for Farza, but I fully support his reasons for choosing to evolve, even when others may not have been ready for it.
You want to do things in life that bring you enjoyment.
It may not last forever… and that is natural.
Enjoy creating whenever you can!
…if not always.
When the passion and love of what you are doing is gone… It is OK to close that chapter and begin anew.
Take time to appreciate the process, the progress, the evolution.
…then move onward!
I Salute you Farza & The Buildspace team.
Thank you for everything you created for all of us,
to help us create,
for ourselves,
and the world!
Keep creating!
and
enjoy creating too!
Here are some amazing projects from other fellow creators i met in the Nights & Weekends Season 5 cohort!
I am sharing these 4 specific projects with the hope that they could help you in expanding your creative endeavors.
